new!!

small update!:
i'm trying to be patient while i await my supplies order. i got a small order in today and made two new things plus i'm going to post some i made last week. CANNOT wait to make more!

my grandma is A M A Z I N G! she sent me a huge box full of my favorite fabric. people reading this probably don't know many fabric designers but his name is Kaffe Fassett. my grandma, mom and i went to a quilt show last summer and i seriously FELL IN LOOOOOVE with his fabrics! my grandma made a quilt out of just his designs for my birthday. it's the most gorgeous quilt EVER! so yeah, she sent me lots of his fabrics, some interfacing and a book with some purse patterns and stuff. she also sent me some clutches she made! so cute!

not much has been up with will and i. we've been SUPER sick this week. SO MISERABLE! but i've been working on my stuff and he's been working. he LOVES his new position. they keep him SUPER busy. he likes that. he seems to really enjoy it!

i'll update more when i have some more to say! :D

edited to add: even though i can't take professional pics of the earrings yet i decided to post the first pair on my site anyways. they sold within 45 mins of posting! so i'm getting together the package for mailing. since i named my company sweet october, i just realized i can use lots of the stuff i had left over from the wedding to make the presentation extra special for my customers! i wrote a little thank you note and packaged it in a pretty little sheer bag and attached a silver charm. :) this is so exciting! my FIRST sale!!!!

quicky update!

hey y'all! just doing a quick update! i've been BUSY!

not many of you know but i opened up my own online store. it's on a website called Etsy. it's a site where you can sell vintage or handmade items. it's really neat. i'm selling clutch purses and jewelry. i made my first clutch two weeks ago and made my second last night! it turned out SO GOOD! i'm so excited to be doing this! it's been my dream for awhile so i'm glad that i actually had the guts to do it!

heres the clutch i made last night. i'll be embellishing them with brooches and bows!



it's been hard to find fabric here in charlotte. there isn't a joanns fabric and the fabric store we do have isn't any good. so i've had to be creative. i was at target the day before yesterday and they had LOTS of stuff on super clearance. i got the genius idea of buying these gorgeous fabric shower curtains and using them for the purses! it's actually cheaper than buying fabric and the they are so pretty!

been a little crazy around here! :D

where to start?!

so first of all, will got a promotion! he is now an inspector! it's exciting. and definitely a move in the right direction. it means he's got two positions he's qualified for which means HOPEFULLY twice as many jobs! he starts on wednesday. wish him luck!

second, my brother got engaged. they are getting married in november. i'm really excited for them! my mom and i have been bugging him for years to propose to melissa! haha. we'll it finally happened! i can't believe my baby brother is getting MARRIED!!!

third, my best friend tina is getting married also! she just got engaged after new years! she asked me to be her maid of honor so now i'm busy helping her plan! so estatic for her and her fiance leevan! i know the wedding is going to be the most gorgeous wedding EVER!

more?! yes! my sister (the one i posted about last entry that just had her baby) got married two days ago! and guess what?! she's pregnant again! i'm a little worried about that one but i'm happy that she is happy and healthy. hopefully everything goes smoothly with her pregnancies being so close together. pray for her please!

my grandma was ill for a little while but they finally figured out what was wrong with her. she had surgery and is now all healed up and feeling great. SUCH a relief! i love her so much and i don't know what i would do if anything ever happened to her!

miles somehow cut the pad of his paw last month. it was a HUGE chunk! i don't know how he did it because he's always inside but somehow he managed. haha. i was super scared but i took really good care of it and now it's all better and you would never know it happened. :D he's a trooper.

wills mom came for thanksgiving. we cooked a nice big dinner! i made green bean casserole (my special recipe, it's the BEST!), mashed potatoes & corn pudding. it was my first time making corn pudding and they loved it so i guess i did pretty good. will made the turkey in the rotisserie. it turned out awesome! we had fun. wish we were closer to debby!

we had a nice quiet christmas alone. after the year(s) we have had, it was nice to just relax. we decorated the christmas tree, sat by the fire and we went to the movies. it was perfect.

i might update more later but for now, i've gotta go. i need to finish packing for NY. i'm going to help tina get some stuff done for her wedding! <3 you all!

my sister had her baby! i'm an aunt!

wow. that is SO weird to say! both that my LITTLE sister had a baby and that i'm an aunt!!!

so i'm going to brag!

her name is katryna. she's 8 pounds 8 ounces and 21 inches long!

some good news!!!

As most of you know, when I lived in Fayetteville and in Raleigh, I was the main photographer for a modeling agency. When we moved to Nashville, I wasn't able to shoot with them anymore. WELLLLLLL...............now that I am back in NC, I was offered my gig back!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOO excited!! I haven't been able to shoot much of anything since we moved. I miss being able to work with the models and kids SO much. It was my favorite job and I was so broken hearted to leave it. I love the owners of the agency, they became such good friends. I am so thankful to have my job back! Looks like my first shoots are going to be Sept 12th. Wish me luck!

save your dogs life....maybe even yours!

So a few months ago my moms dog Bri wouldn't eat, she was vomiting, not going to the bathroom....just got really sick. They took her to the vet. They had to put her on medicine and keep her. She was VERY bad and they thought she wouldn't make it through the weekend. Well she made it through. The vet didn't give much advice. They said her liver enzymes were at over 800. That is VERY high. Didn't know what caused it. Basically not much help. They gave her meds (which were VERY expensive) and sent her home. My parents were basically preparing to have her put to sleep or let her die. She is only 5! It's was very upsetting. Of course I was super upset because I love Bri too! I told Mom we should look up some stuff online....maybe the vet doesn't know about other cases or cures. We found a few websites saying that milk thistle might work. Then some that said that her food must be changed and she was not to be given any kind of people food unless it was purely natural. That her body couldn't digest it properly given her state. So they went and bought some milk thistle and changed her food. What do you know. MONTHS later, shes still alive and kickin! Better or as good as she was before! Milk thistle saved her life! Btw, it's a vitamin for people! So it works on us too! :D Just in case your liver starts acting up! ;) We can't tell you how happy we are that she is doing better!

Bri has had a rough life for a dog. She was found stranded during a hurricane at about 3 weeks old. Her best friend died about 2 years ago. She survived a flood (at my parents house with alarms sounding for HOURS & freezing temps). Then her liver. Poor girl! But she's doing great. AND we just found out (with the help of my hubby by accident) that she is a certain breed of dog. She's a Schipperke (skip-er-key) mix. Thats awesome to know in case of something happening again (breed specific problems, etc).

Just thought I'd try to get the word out there in case any of you (or your friends) have a dog that suddenly has liver failure. It could save their lives! :D
